Offline Transcription
ClapClip transcribes entirely offline. The Whisper-grade models run on your Windows PC, so no recording, transcript, or metadata ever touches a server — and transcription works on a plane, behind a corporate firewall, or anywhere without a connection.
- Models run 100% on your PC
- Works with no internet connection
- No server logs or third-party access
- Free and unlimited by design
Windows 10 & 11
Offline means actually offline
Many 'desktop' transcription apps are thin clients that upload your audio to a cloud API. ClapClip ships the models with the app: after installation, you can disconnect from the internet and transcription works identically.
The privacy property everything else follows from
No upload means no server logs, no third-party data processing agreement, no risk of your audio training someone's model. For legal, medical, and corporate content, offline is often the only acceptable architecture.
No connection, no queue, no outage
Cloud transcribers fail with your Wi-Fi and slow down at peak hours. Local transcription is as reliable as your own machine and as fast as your own hardware.
FAQ
Does ClapClip ever upload my audio?
No. The AI models are installed with the app and all processing is local. You can transcribe with networking disabled.
Why does offline matter for transcription?
Recordings are often sensitive — meetings, interviews, dictation. Offline processing keeps them entirely under your control.
Is offline transcription less accurate?
No. ClapClip runs Whisper-class models locally, the same family of models behind leading cloud services.
